About LIVE in LOMPOC

The Lompoc Concert Association (LCA) was formed in 1948 as Lompoc Community Concert Association through the efforts of a group of dedicated, visionary volunteers who wanted to bring the experience of live performance to Lompoc audiences.

Over the years, the Concert Association has presented such diverse artists as the Vienna Boys Choir, Christopher Parkening, the New Christy Minstrels, the Romeros, Stecher and Horowitz, Chanticleer, the Crescent City Jazz Band, and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra to Lompoc area audiences. From 1956-1996, the concerts were held in the Lompoc Theatre. Since the theatre’s closure in 1996, concerts have been held in local churches, with the First United Methodist church serving as the venue from 2008 to the present.

For our 75th Anniversary - the 2022-2023 Season - we asked some of our board members to reflect on their experience with LCA.

Thank you to local filmmaker Casey Fera for this wonderful project!

The Chickering Piano

In 2013, the LCA Board was approached by the First United Methodist Church with an offer to completely restore the Association’s Chickering concert grand piano in exchange for donation of the instrument to the Church. Having been stored in the Lompoc Theatre since 1996, the piano was in unusable condition. An agreement was reached between the two parties and, following the transfer of ownership to the Church, an anonymous donation of $35,000 was provided within the Church for the piano’s restoration. In March 2014, piano prodigy Umi Garrett, a 14-year old Steinway Concert Artist, wowed the audience in the final performance of LCA’s 2013-14 concert season. The cooperative efforts of LCA and the Methodist Church in the piano restoration greatly enhanced the quality of the performance venue that serves the Concert Association, the Lompoc Pops Orchestra, and the Lompoc Valley Master Chorale.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Positions are volunteer

We are always looking for great people to join our Board of Directors. We meet approximately four times per year, primarily to select the next season's performers. We are currently seeking individuals with legal and financial backgrounds, however we are open to anyone who would like to bring their experience to the group who is responsible for keeping LCA moving forward.

VOLUNTEERS

Open to high school students as well as adults.

Whether it's passing out flyers at a local event, helping set the stage for the performers, or handing out snacks after a concert, there's a lot of work that goes into making LIVE in LOMPOC events successful. We greatly appreciate the time and energy volunteers give to LCA and we hope you'll consider joining the team in this capacity. There is no long term commitment, however, we like to think of our volunteers as our future with an eye toward board member succession.

SPONSORSHIP

Financial support from your business or organization.

Each season LCA produces a playbill filled with ads from wonderful local businesses who show their support by purchasing a placement. Their ad is also placed on the home page of this website. As a community organization, we know it is vital to have local support and we remind our audiences to seek out these businesses year round.

DONATIONS

Financial support from individuals or organizations.

Our donors are the lifeline of LCA. If you are interested in making a donation, please consider one of the following options. If given prior to printing, your name and donation level will be printed in our seasonal playbill:
